10 Makeup Faves From Makeup Class
I’ve been teaching pro and personal makeup classes in Makeup Designory Manila for almost 3 years now, and one of the perks of teaching is that I can keep abreast of both new and tried and tested products out there through my students’ makeup kits. Here are some of my and my makeup students’ faves, both for pro and personal use:
1. L’oreal True Match Foundation
One of the most common dilemmas that my personal makeup students have is that they have a hard time choosing the right foundation. Some are too light or too pink. Those who have True Match have, indeed, a true match with their skin tone. Affordable too.
2. Makeup Designory Red and Blue Correctors
This is probably one of the bestsellers from the MUD line, judging from the way my students would immediately go out of the classroom and buy this after I’ve concealed their problem areas with it . Red Corrector for pimples/redness, Blue Corrector for eyebags. Very pigmented!
3. MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation
A staple in pro makeup artist kits, some have this for personal use too because of its full coverage and ease in application.
4. Shu Uemura Eyebrow Retractable Eyebrow Liner in Seal Brown
Brows never look overdone even if you’ve layered it, and the shade is just perfect for Asian skin tones. You can buy refills, too.
5. Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palettes
Need I say more? These wildy popular palettes are used by pros, junkies, and newbies. I joined the bandwagon and bought both, although I realized that they’re too shimmery for pro use. At most, I use one shade from these palettes and always mix it with matte/less shimmery ones from my other palettes.
6. Benefit High Beam
Cop those supermodel cheekbones with this. What’s good about this is that it can glide over powder. A little goes a long way!
7. Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler
When I decide to retire my trusty Shu Uemura eyelash curlers, I’ll buy Kevyn Aucoin. It curls easily and the red rubber strip allows you to really see the lashes as opposed to a black one. This can definitely rival Mr. Uemura!
8. Smashbox Studio Pop Ultimate Palette
My latest batch of basic certificate students call this their “friendship palette”, as each of them bought one for themselves. One more day with them and I would have probably succumbed and bought too. 45 eyeshadows. 9 cream liners. 6 blushes. 6 lipcolors. All for a little more than P3,000. How can you beat that?
9. Laura Mercier Lipstick in Baby Lips
My personal favorite everyday shade. Your lips would look like, well, baby’s lips. A bit drying though so you have to layer it with lip balm, but the shade is spot-on for a natural look.
10. Sigma Brushes
I am simply in love with Sigma brushes. I already have the 15 piece set and I’m planning to buy more when I go to US mid this year.
What are your favorites? Let me know!
