Great Department Store Makeup Finds at SM Aura

Great Department Store Makeup Finds at SM Aura

Ā I recently accompanied Bing, my then 9 month old pregnant former boss, to SM Aura. She said she looked like a whale, so her husband Dino said he’ll treat her to makeup shopping (Ahhh, this guy is for keeps!) . Besides, she needs to rehaul her makeup kit because most of them she hasn’t used in more than a year, so this was the perfect time to do it. We walked (well, I walked, she waddled) towards the department store and decided to limit our buying spree there so she won’t splurge so much.

Before I talk about the makeup, I would just like to say that SM Aura department store is so nice! It looks very high-end and would definitely rival Rustan’s. The makeup kiosks all have that uniform luxurious feel, so even Ever Bilena looks sosyal.

We covered almost everything, from foundation to lipstick to basic brushes. Here’s what I recommended for everyday natural makeup:

2013-09-14 19.28.01

1. Etude House BB Cream Cotton Fit SPF 30, around P750.00

After going to Seoul twice this year, I’ve been smitten with Korean makeup. I actually bought this in Myeongdong and gave this to Bing. This is what I use on myself also for everyday makeup. Good medium coverage, long wearing, and gives you a glow. SPF is a plus.

2. NYX Concealer Jar, P360.00

Bing wanted something to cover occasional under eye circles, so I looked for something with orangey-peachy undertone that comes in cream form. I’m happy NYX is now available in mainstream department stores!

3. Etude House BB Compact Bright Fit SPF 30, P848.00

I might as well choose from the same brand as the BB Cream to set it. Can be used without BB Cream also.

4. Tony Moly Lovely Eyebrow Pencil, P148.00

I chose a medium brown shade. This has that taupe-y kind of brown perfect for those with black or dark brown hair.

5. Revlon Colorstay 16 Hour Eyeshadow Quad in Decadent, P795.00

This was actually on promo with 50% off so we bought it for just P397.50. I chose the quad with a good mix of earth tones that comes in matte and satin finishes.

6. Maybelline Brown Gel Eyeliner, P449.00

I use this on myself too for everyday. It doesn’t dry out quickly. I chose brown over black for a softer look.

7. Maybelline Lash Stiletto Black Mascara, P349.00

Again, what I use on myself. You can never go wrong with Maybelline mascaras. Good quality, reasonable price. This is a lengthening mascara, it has microfibers in it that attach to your lashes for extra length. It doesn’t weigh down your lashes too.

8. Etude House Dear Darling Tint, P228.00

I have this too. It’s very easy to apply and doesn’t look blotchy.

9. Ever Bilena Cheek Blush in Everyday, P165.00

I was looking for a peachy pink shade with just the right hint of shimmer and I was surprised I found one in Ever Bilena. Most of what I saw are too glittery or too pastel-y for office use, and this Everyday shade is perfect for, well, everyday.

10. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart, P575.00

Choosing just one shade is so hard, I wanted to recommend at least 3! Sweetheart is pretty shade of pink that brightens up the face. I think I’ll buy these for my pro kit to layer under lipstick.

11. NYX Matte Body Bronzer in Deep Tan, P590.00

Bing wanted to learn how to contour her cheekbones and jawline for a slimming effect. I looked for a matte, medium brown eyeshadow shade that comes in a big pan but I can’t find any. So I looked for a matte bronzer that doesn’t have that much red undertone and I found it in NYX.

12. Tony Moly Clear Water Lip and Eye Makeup Remover, P398.00

We chose this solely because of the packaging. I think we changed our minds thrice– from originally choosing Maybelline, to L’oreal, to Etude House, until we finally settled with Tony Moly. It comes in a bottle with a pump so it’s very easy to dispense the liquid and you can even reuse the bottle.

13. Marionnaud Kabuki Brush, P499.00

Marionnaud brushes aren’t bad at all. This has synthetic bristles but they’re soft on the skin.

14. Marionnaud Pointed Eyeshadow Brush, P149.00

Bing already has a flat eyeshadow brush so I recommended that she buy a bullet/pencil/smudger brush for darker shades of eyeshadow. Price is super reasonable considering this has natural bristles.

15. Marionnaud Slanted Blusher Brush, P169.75

Again, synthetic bristles but they’re soft!

We were lucky that day because the whole makeup department was on sale, 10% off everything. Total damage was P5,467.73. Not bad at all!

What are your department store finds? I’d love to hear from you šŸ™‚

I’ve been to SM Aura’s beauty section as well and yes I have to agree that it looks soshal! šŸ˜€

I am using Etude House’s CC cream in Silky (I have oily skin). For a light coverage, I topped with a setting powder and I’m good to go.

I have the exact Tony Moly Eye Makeup remover and I love it!
