My 5 Favorite Mascaras

My 5 Favorite Mascaras

Mascara is one of my non-negotiables when I’m doing my own everyday makeup. My general criteria is that 1) it holds the curl up nicely, 2) no clumping, 3) it does what it says– define, lengthen, or volumize. My top 5 brands:

1. Maybelline

From the iconic Great Lash to the Volum’ Express line to the Lash Stiletto, Maybelline is my go-to brand for mascara. Hell, they invented the stuff (A resourceful girl named Mabel mixed Vaseline and coal dust to make her eyelashes darker. Her brother improved the formula and named it Maybelline. Mabel + Vaseline. Now you know!). It’s a great deal at maximum P500 per tube. I go through several tubes a year for my pro kit so with this price, it doesn’t hurt the pocket at all. My current fave is the Lash Stiletto Voluptuous  Waterproof Mascara (red tube). I bought it in US though, the one available in Philippines isn’t the voluptuous kind (black tube).

2. Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Something that I tried from one of my makeup students. I love the volume and length that this one gives without weighing the lashes down.

3. Fairy Drops

It promises that you’ll look like a “Brilliant, Sexy, Hollywood Star!” and will make you look “Fabulous!!!” Never have I seen so many exclamation marks in a mascara packaging. (Catch!!! Curl Up!!! Brand New!!!) While I certainly didn’t look like a brilliant, sexy, Hollywood star, it made my lashes fabulous. It’s best to let someone buy it for you from Hong Kong, it’s much cheaper there. This is what I’m personally using now.

4. Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara

Again, something I discovered from one of my students after noticing that all her models consistently had nicely defined and curled lashes. If you’re a sucker for cute packaging then this one’s for you!

5. Diorshow

Definitely the most pricey in this list, I had a hard time buying one for myself at around P1,800 per tube. So far the 2 tubes that I’ve had came from my mom and my sister (Thank you!). What with all the hype, it’s worth it naman.

I really like the mascara from Kate. It has a comb instead of a brush, you have to be spend time using it but I always get asked if I’m wearing falsies! Go go go on your 30-day blogging challenge, Kris!

Kate? Where did you buy it? Thanks Anina, I hope I can keep it up! I should have done this last August when I wasn’t so busy hehe.

Kate is the a baby brand of Kanebo! I bought in SM North Edsa—the department store is a great make-up place!
But I guess you’ll have more stories now that you’re so busy!

I use Majolica Majorca, too! I got it from Macau and it’s definitely cheaper there. 🙂
