Monica is one of the constants in my life. We’ve known each other since Prep in School of the Holy Spirit, and as some girls can attest, all-girl convent schools are the perfect breeding ground for life-long friendships. There were whole years that we have neither seen nor talked to each other, but when we do, we simply pick up where we left off. We probably get along well because we’re both Scorpio– in Monica’s world, pretty much everything can be explained through your zodiac sign.
Fast forward to 2011. I vividly remember we were having dinner in Greenbelt and Monica was being set up for a date. She asked me if I know a certain Eric Tan from Ateneo. I did what any supportive friend would do for a Facebook-less friend — stalk this Eric online, stat. What I came up with from my “research”: He’s a batchmate, looks very very familiar to me, we may have had a class or two together, and we have a ton of mutual friends. I wasn’t of much help right then, but their mutual friend, Krinx, apparently think they’re a good match so she set them up. One very crucial fact after the successful first date– lo and behold, he’s a Scorpio!
Fast forward to 11-12-13. Monica’s eye for detail coupled with her free spirit and bohemian attitude resulted in this one of a kind wedding, as you’ll see in the photos. Yung totoo, who do you personally know can pull off this tropical Armenian princess look and still look classy? Their priest described it as “theatrical”, but really, it’s just Monica being Monica. I knew from the start this wasn’t going to be some classic, white and pastel pink affair. Hey, as one of the bridesmaids, I was expecting to don whatever big, feathered hair ornament she’ll throw at me! All these aside, I’m just truly happy my dear friend found someone who simply understands her. Eric, thank you for unconditionally accepting and loving Monica, theatrics and all.
